Dick worked as a stockbroker at Dean Witter Reynolds until his retirement a couple of years ago. He is an avid outdoor trekker, and indeed, walked the entire North Pacific Coast Railroad beginning in Sausalito over the course of a year and a half on nights and weekends with friends. Those treks are now the subject of numerous hilarious and/or hair-raising stories. Dick collects extraordinary sports cars and can be seen driving in rallies on the back roads of Marin when he is not hiking. He raced a vintage race car for years at Sears Point and other locations.
A long-time supporter of MALT, Dick has also quietly raised funds for the Point Benicia YMCA for 20-25 years. Dick is married to Luisiana, who he met while an officer in the Army stationed in Italy. They have a son, Riccardo who is married and who has two sons and also lives in Marin. Dick is a graduate of Dartmouth College and is very active with its alumni. He and his wife own property in Canada as well as their residence in Marin. They also have a houseboat in the Sausalito Bay, which has often been featured in house tours.
