CALL FOR BOARD MEMBER APPLICATIONS

Call for Board Member Applications

Point Reyes National Seashore Association (PRNSA) seeks board members passionate about protecting our Point Reyes National Seashore and eager to work for park access to all.

Who We Are

Located on the unceded home of the Coast Miwok, current day Point Reyes National Seashore is a unit of the National Park System. As the primary nonprofit partner to the National Park Service, we work together to preserve and maintain wildlife habitats, trails, and historic sites in this beautiful and unique park. Our year-round environmental education programs help children and adults deepen their understanding and relationship to nature and our collective role in caring for our public lands and planet. We are dedicated to supporting the park’s co-stewardship agreement with the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria in the spirit and action of all our work.

Through the support of our members and volunteers we:

● Improve park trails and open space
● Provide environmental education to engage more than 5,000 youth and adults annually
● Foster partnerships with community organizations to bring 3,000 youth from communities historically not welcome on public land
● Fund scientific research to advance the health of the park’s ecosystems
● Restore native habitats and protect threatened and endangered species
● Acquire new parcels of land for the National Seashore

Emerging Focus Areas

Mapping a Park for All

We have sharpened our focus on the essential role parks can serve for the collective and symbiotic well being for humans and the natural world. Through the pandemic, we reshaped our education programs and internal management practices to be more inclusive of communities not historically welcomed on public land.

Trails Forever is an initiative aimed at re-imagining the park’s extensive trail system. Through an inclusive planning process, we are partnering with the National Park Service and Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria to plan and deliver a trail system that welcomes and delights, while improving conditions to support the surrounding ecologies of the trail system.

Community Building Through Volunteer Engagement

To build community and support our conservation, trails, and education work, we are investing in the development of a robust volunteer program. The program will complement National Park Service efforts and explore ways to involve a broader group of constituents in stewardship and other volunteer activities.
