PRNSA Field Institute Instructor

Brett Poirier has been guiding outdoor tours for thirty years – walking, bicycling, and canoeing – in the U.S., Central America, southern Europe and Britain. An avid outdoorsman since his teens, he has a passion for outdoor recreation and natural history. After studying outdoor recreation and natural history in college, he found his first perfect job - guiding biking and hiking tours - at an outdoor center in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. He has also worked as an interpretive park ranger in Denali and Grand Canyon National Park. In recent years, Brett has worked with VBT Bicycle Tours and Country Walkers, Wonder Walks, Blue Water Kayaking, and Point Reyes National Seashore Association. His longtime interest in the plant kingdom eventually led him to the study of soil science and mycology. Brett lives in Bolinas and enjoys studying, searching for and cooking mushrooms.
