I started my path to becoming a field biologist as a volunteer harbor seal monitor at Point Reyes National Seashore. With that wonderful experience under my belt, and a newfound love for all things marine mammal and Point Reyes, I continued to seek out biological fieldwork positions. I spent a winter on the Farallon Islands as a northern elephant seal intern, a fall in the Falkland Islands as a southern elephant seal intern, and the past 3 summers as a Hawaiian monk seal field technician in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. This will be my fifth consecutive season at Point Reyes National Seashore assisting in data collection on northern elephant seals. I believe that elephant seals are the most interesting and beautiful animals on the whole planet, but I might be biased.
