As a California native from the Sierra Nevada foothills, Michael grew up visiting Point Reyes National Seashore during family weekend getaways. Fascinated by California’s diverse natural world, Michael pursued a bachelors degree in ecology and evolutionary biology at UC Merced. During the summer of 2017 before his senior year of undergrad, Michael was hired on as a dune restoration and rare plant monitoring intern as part of a partnership between the National Park Service and the University of California. Enchanted by the awe inspiring area, Michael returned to the Seashore after graduating to take part in a second field season with the dune program. Since then, Michael has managed to maintain a presence at the Seashore as an employee of the park’s partner organization, Point Reyes National Seashore Association. At PRNSA, Michael has worked as a volunteer stewardship coordinator, a dune restoration biological science technician, and most recently as a vegetation management and monitoring technician. Needless to say, Michael’s passion is exploring and conserving the many habitats of Point Reyes.
