Celeste was born and raised on traditional Coast Miwok land in Petaluma nestled between the Sonoma hills, and a stone’s throw away from the Russian River. She found her passion for environmental justice in high school and carried that over to her work with youth in nature immersion programs for many years at Friends of the Petaluma River, Sonoma County Water Agency, and Wilderness Youth Project. She is a strong advocate for equitable environmental policy that protects, supports, and empowers all people. Celeste holds a BA in Environmental Studies and Geography from UC Santa Barbara. She honors the work of past ancestors, land stewards and keepers, and appreciates the ability to learn, live, and heal on this earth.
