Point Reyes is a natural outdoor classroom. An area where crustal plates connect, plant communities converge, and a spectacular diversity of wildlife can be found, Point Reyes is an inspiring place to immerse yourself in the beauty and complexity of the natural world as you learn and observe during one of our school-based or community education programs.

PRNSA creates opportunities for students, families, and people of all interests to engage in art, science, human history, and outdoor activities throughout the year at the seashore. Study the park’s natural features, practice new outdoor skills, or reflect and recharge. Find the experience that’s right for you, and find yourself at Point Reyes.

We believe that all children should have the opportunity to explore and experience the natural world. PRNSA is committed to supporting teachers with the training, resources, and programming they need to feel confident guiding their students on a pathway toward environmental literacy at Point Reyes.

Staying Overnight at the Ed Center

Nestled in a secluded valley within the Philip Burton Wilderness and just two miles from Limantour Beach, the Clem Miller Environmental Education Center is a residential learning facility available for overnight rental by schools and environmental learning groups. With five dormitory-style sleeping cabins, a bath house, a main lodge with library, and a commercial kitchen, the Ed Center is an ideal location for community building, environmental education, and nature immersion.

Naturalist Led Programs

PRNSA offers a variety of Science at the Seashore class programs which introduce students to science practices and ecological concepts through hands-on monitoring, restoration, and investigation activities. Choose from a menu of NGSS-correlated programs by grade level to match your educational goals.

Note: Many of our school programs are currently paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are looking for a small group learning experience at this time, please contact us directly and we will work with you to plan a custom program which suits your needs.
