Spring Wildflowers at Chimney Rock – Member Walk
Sat, May 11PRNSA Field Institute Instructor and naturalist Wendy Dreskin will lead our member community on a 2 – 2.5 mile walk at Chimney Rock to learn about the special species who call this place home.
We will spend the morning getting to know the many species of flowers found here, learning about their Native American uses, the butterflies that use them as host plants, and the botanists who introduced them to Western science.
Be prepared to stop for any surprises along the way, because there are always many surprises! Our senses will surely be delighted.
This event is free and open to members. Families are welcome. Not a member? Become one today for as little as $5 a month! Become a member and support our park!
Meet at the Chimney Rock parking lot. Please carpool if possible, as parking is very limited. Be sure to be on time (or early!) as the lot fills up.
Please note: Parts of this trail have eroded. Consider bringing trekking poles if know you’ll want more support on uneven terrain.
Wendy Dreskin has been teaching the popular class Meandering in Marin at College of Marin since 1998 and Point Reyes Field Seminars since 2005. In recognition of her work inspiring both children and adults, she was awarded the Terwilliger Environmental Award and inducted into the Marin Women’s Hall of Fame.
