Andrés Edwards

Andrés Edwards is a certified forest therapy guide, compassion education trainer, award-winning author, media designer and sustainability consultant.

Andrés is a certified forest therapy guide with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) and an Ambassador of Compassion with Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE). Andrés’s service includes opening the possibilities for people to embody their well-being offered by nature through experiences that encourage awareness, belonging and caring (compassion). He has lectured and worked as producer, exhibit developer, and consultant for projects in natural history, biodiversity and sustainable community for colleges and universities, companies and towns throughout the United States and abroad.

He is an educator and award-winning author of several books about the natural world and sustainability including: Renewal: How Nature Awakens Our Creativity, Compassion and Joy (Gold Medal: Nautilus Book Awards, 2019) which explores our emotional bond with nature through science-based research and personal stories. His previous titles include: The Heart of Sustainability (Silver Medal: Nautilus Book Awards, 2015), Thriving Beyond Sustainability (Gold Medal, Living Now Books Awards, 2010), The Sustainability Revolution (2005), and Tibet: Enduring Spirit, Exploited Land (co-authored with Robert Z. Apte, 1998).

Andrés holds a BA degree in English and Geography from the University of Colorado; an MPS in Media Studies from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program and an MA in Humanities and Leadership/Culture, Ecology and Sustainable Community from New College of California. He is a LEED® Accredited Professional, Permaculture certified, graduate of Angeles Arrien’s Four-Fold Way leadership program, and a member of the U.S. Partnership, United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development program.
