Helping the Monarchs Overwinter in Coastal Communities and Beyond: Monarchs are arriving now in coastal Marin for the winter! This is the beginning of a major milestone in their lifetime, but they need help. Mia Monroe is a community science volunteer with The Xerces Society and is a co-founder of the long-running Western Monarch Thanksgiving Count. She has been watching monarchs her whole life in the Bay Area and enjoys this time of year most.
