Zoe Duerksen-Salm

Born in San Diego, Zoe fell in love with the array of natural spaces throughout California—from the desert hills of Borrego to the sky-high trees of Sequoia. She holds a B.S. in Anthropology from UC Davis and has worked for numerous nonprofits including the Oakland Zoo, SaveNature.Org, and SanDiego350. In 2021, Zoe earned her M.S. in Environmental Science and Management from the UC Santa Barbara Bren School. There she focused on strategic environmental communications and conservation planning, culminating in a capstone project on sustainable community forest management in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Zoe is committed to using effective communications and outreach to bring community well-being to the forefront of conservation strategies in her home state.
